E-mini Trading Heavy Emphasis on Indicators
When dealing with eminis I trade with a heavy emphasis on indicators, but not heavy on quantity. I use a simple set of 1-2 indicators that I use(depending on the market) with as much caution as I would anything else. I know that one thing that I can't stress enough to the community is that though I rely on these trading indicators to trade I've placed a fear of overusing them. I think that my fear is important because the indicator is only as accurate as my best guess. My guess will have some basis or reasoning just as any indicator that is plotted on my chart. In the past I had a tendency to look at indicators as some sort of holy grail combination only to find out that my edge wasn't nearly as strong as I thought. Puttin...

E-mini Trading How I\'m Adapting My Trading
There tends to be a lot of excitement when it comes to trading in general. Not just in terms of futures trading, but trading across all instruments. As a fairly new trader, I try to soak in as much knowledge as possible and I hope this lasts forever. I know that from what I can gather a professional trader probably has a success rate of around 60%+. That's a pretty good win/loss ratio and I'm not there yet, but I've also come to realize one thing in particular. Winning percentage in my opinion is not all that important, but I know this may change down the line. Improved Futures Trading My losing trades have far outweighed my winning trades, but my profit and loss shows growth. I'm not a professional nor am I right more...

E-mini Trading Emini Trading Money Management
Money management in emini trading is very important and no matter how large your account grows you should never trade if you don't feel comfortable with the size you're using or amount you have at risk. Managing Contract Size A good stair step way of managing the amount of contracts to trade would be to go with 1 for every $5,000 to $6,000 in profits or in your account. Just starting out I'd never say someone should trade more than 1 contract though. If you have the luxury of starting with a large account don't go blowing your account out. Learn to trade on one and increase with the above stair step pattern. Managing Stop Size I never use anything less than 8 ticks for a stop though I try to not take a full stop out if it...

E-mini Trading Best Practices When E-mini Trading
Something to remember is that you need to be patient in your trading. It may in most cases be better to wait for your support to hold then an entry at your support or a tick or 2 in front is placed. No need to assume always that your support or resistance will hold every time. Trade Regular Hours If you are to be an early bird be sure to be this consistently and create a plan based on this. Don't try to fit a plan into a specific time, but rather develop with that mind set. Its probably not a good idea to try and trade the overnight session as well as the day session every day. There are times when it is advantageous while there are times when it is not. Learn to understand what makes it advantageous and only trade ...

E-mini Trading Let The Market Take Me Out Trading Futures
The market is very unforgiving, but it is also very generous when you least expect it. As a trader you must understand that each trade you take is at the mercy of the market. No matter how strong a support or resistance may be, the market can push through. Some may have come to this realization as they try to enter the market, but let's break it down a little further. Support and Resistance are Good Trade Exits Most traders know pretty well that support and resistance make up a good exit point. As an experienced or new trader you should also know that placing an exit directly on a support or resistance can lead to many lost opportunities. The market has the innate ability to reverse just shy of an actual support and re...

E-mini Trading Specific Whole Numbers For Trading Support an
Traders including myself take into account specific numbers during the day. While others are keeping an eye on levels of support such as Fibonacci levels and even other obvious recent support or resistance I try to keep an open mind to and not forget the whole number. I've seen whole number price holds in both stocks and when trading futures. Why these are relevant to traders during a trading session comes down to the psychological turning point of newly discovered price areas as well as historical evidence. As anything else it's important to look at it the same way you would a pivot point or other support area. You should know that a little bit of give and take are to be expected and an exact pivot at the even whole numbe...

E-mini Trading My Futures Trading Best Times To Trade
My Futures Trading - Best Times To Trade This applies to the ES and the TF and not necessarily crude, gold ect. Morning Session - 9:00 AM CST - 10:30 AM CST Afternoon Session - 12:15 PM CST - 2:30 PM CST Not a whole lot here. Just an idea of the time I'm most active in my opinion. Many traders find different times to be most effective for them....

E-mini Trading 60 Minute Wedge Set Up Topic: Intra-Day Hourl
It's probably easier to simply watch the video for the hourly trading set up Stock markets larger time frame direction for me is not a huge issue in this set up and I like to ignore my analysis for the most part. Understanding this is important as you'll see us get an idea of short term scalp direction as well as make entries. We use the Ninja Trader platform for charting and one indicator we found that makes it easier on us to spot this set up is the Multi-Period Candle Sticks indicator. Just simply do a google search for "Multi-Period Candle stick Indicator Ninja Trader" and you should be able to find it. So how do we use it? One way we've always traded was to look for clues in sentiment. Thus we knew that if we could figure ou...

E-mini Trading Great Old School Video On Futures Trading
Hi all, I found this video by accident, but I like what this trader(Greenspan) has to say. A lot of what is said here is clear, to the point and re-enforces some great ideas. It's no doubt long winded, but if you're new or need a refresher it's a good watch. I'll update a few of the points and add and subtract some of these soon. ...

E-mini Trading Are You a Trading With a Purpose?
Everything is telling me to believe that most are trade hunters For most traders we know that a healthy day overview should be in place. When the day is done there is something refreshing and rewarding about looking over your performance for a short period. We don't want to dwell, but we may as well look things over. It doesn't matter if it is a good day or bad day, we just want to take a look. What I know may be clear to most, is that you too trade in a way similar to me. I normally look to begin by establishing a few options for which to approach my futures trade. The first is a fail approach while the next is what I'm looking for initially to occur with price action. What makes me or you place the trade may be different, but I beli...

E-mini Trading Trends and Charts Within E-mini Markets
Trading successfully is a 'derivative' of many factors, no pun intended. Within the market you'll experience many things occurring across all markets. At some point you'll notice yourself within a trend while other times a reversal or a pause period. // // Understanding the idea of strong momentum and a change in direction As we all know, one of the worst things to do is to step in front of a market with momentum. Suffice it to say that once a market has been convinced on a direction it will continue for as long as it needs to. "When it needs to" can be explained as a forceful push from the other direction by fellow traders. Understanding the possible reason a forceful push may come is a factor of understanding trends. Trends happen ...

E-mini Trading Practice With Mini Micro Futures and Trading
Practice With Mini Micro Futures and Trading Emotions Money is money and you have to understand that before you read on about mini micro futures. This instrument in my opinion is a nice way to work on getting your feet wet in the trading the financial futures market. As you'll read shortly it's also a nice way to work on testing your new strategy and implementation. As I said before, it's important to understand that the M6E is real money. Everything that can happen to you trading the bigs' can happen to you here. So the same caution yielded when trading any financial instrument should be in place. The M6E Micro Futures Breakdown I'm going to break down an instrument I've been using at night ...

E-mini Trading New Closing Emini Futures
Something interesting that took me by surprise was the equity index new close of 4:15 PM CST. This took place on November 18 2012. This change will effect electronically traded equity index futures and options though the settlement time itself will remain unchanged. Same Futures Daily Halt The small hiccup for these equity index contracts within the CME Globex will continue trading at 3:30 PM CST after the 15-minute halt closing at 4:15 PM CST. This is what effects me only in my typical trading day and so Im going to paste the entire email I received below for you to look over. Make sure other areas will not affect you. E-mini Trading Managing an Emini Futures Trading Draw Down
Managing the Dreaded emini Trading Draw Down One could argue that trading unusually well could be a bad thing sometimes. Every trade you make including those outside your normal trade plan adds to the size of your account! How can you go wrong right? You might take trades you probably wouldn't have before, but they're working for you so why stop? You've mastered the market! How You Get Into a Trading Slow Down Many traders will go through spats in their trading where they simply can't lose. So what's happening during these series of trades? Your building what we call "ghost habits" that are destroying your future ability to make profits. Every time you place a trade good or bad you've lost a little...
